ANCIENT HISTORIC GREEK FURNITURES.


ANCIENT GREEK 
The Greek culture can be said to have begun with the bronze age civilization of the MINOANS in CRETE. The Minoans built vast palaces, and were skilled in Metal Work, Pottery, Artwork and the Crafting of jewelry. The early Greeks were encouraged to be great thinkers and philosophers.



ANCIENT GREEK FURNITURE
The Greek history of furniture can be traced back to the heritage of Egyptian furniture. The earliest Greek civilization borrowed styles and ideas from Egypt. The people of ancient Greek built some of the finest architecture that marvels the world. They captured the natural ratios of the world in massive stone edifies and developed the basic proportions and aesthetics that define western architecture to this present day. The Greek styles were simple, elegant and unique. Greek people did not have a wide Assortment of furniture in their daily lives. Greek artworks such as pottery decorations shows off the daily Greek life in Greek homes.




ANCIENT GREEK TABLES
Ancient Greek tables were mainly used for eating which were low and mostly movable, three-legged and made of bronze but typically of wood. Greek tables could have circular tops, and four legs or even one central leg instead of three. It also, often appears in depictions alongside KLINES and could fit underneath.



ANCIENT GREEK CHAIRS
The Greeks created their own distinct styles of seating. The most notable is the KLISMOS, a light chair that had a back. The KLISMOS chair is a type of ancient chair, Klismos signifies an armchair. It was in Greece that ergonomic chairs have emerged with other forms adapted perfectly to the human body and became much more comfortable. The chair is of extreme antiquity and simplicity , Knowledge of the chairs of remote antiquity is derived entirely from monuments, sculpture and paintings. The earliest known form of Greek chairs dates back to six or seven centuries BCE. The most famous of the very few chairs which have come down from a remote antiquity is the reputed chair of SAINT PETER in ST PETER'S BASILLICA at  ROME.



ANCIENT GREEK THRONES
Starting from the beginning of Greek history, thrones were identified as seats of the gods. A throne is a chair of state often set on a dais and surmounted by a canopy, representing the power of the dignitary who sits on it and sometimes conferring that power. When used in a political or governmental sense, Throne typically refers to a civilization, nation, tribe or political designated group that is organized or governed under an authoritarian system. Thrones were found throughout the canon of ancient furniture. In ancient Greek, a THRONOS was a specific but ordinary type of chair with a footstool, a high status object but not necessarily with any connotations of power.




ANCIENT GREEK STOOLS
The stool was used by Greeks of all the layers and it was constructed in variety of configuration. The most common form of Greek seat was the backless stool. Which is found in almost every Greek home. It has no back support and the bottom is hard and uncompromising. The typical stool consisted of a flat top and four straight legs which is known as BATHRON. Another stool became known as DIPHROS OKLADIAS, a stool which the legs cross, as in the modern stool with a tripod base. It consisted of three animal legs pointed inwards, ending with lion paws.
