Sculpture is a work of art that is a solid figure or object made by carving or shaping wood, stone, clay, metal etc...it is the branch of visual art that operates in three dimensions, sculptures has been central in religious devotions in many cultures.

Durable sculptural processes originally used carving ( the removal of material) and modelling ( the addition of material as clay), in stone, metal, ceramics, wood, and other materials but since modernism, there has been an almost complete freedom of materials and process. The recovery of classical antiquity permeated all aspects of art and culture. Sculptures in stone survives far better than works of art in perishable materials, and often represents the majority of the surviving work from ancient cultures. Visual art cork said in a statement that the two principle elements of sculpture are Mass and Space. Mass refers to the sculpture's bulk, the solid bit contained within its surface while Space is the air around the solid solid sculpture. Another important element of most sculptures are their surfaces. These can portray quite different visual effects according to whether they are Convex or Concave, Flat or Modelled, Coloured or Uncoloured.
